History
1893 – Founded by Shintaro Ochi in Shimo-Abu, Hokubo, Maniwa City, in search of excellent water. The brewery first operated under the name Marusan Partnership Company, producing sake known locally as “Marusan Masamune” or simply “Marusan’s sake.”
1947 – The third generation, Minoru Ochi, named the flagship brand “Taisho no Tsuru.”
1951 – Under the second generation, the business became Ochi Brewery Co., Ltd.
1974 – The fourth generation, Yasuaki Ochi, became President.
1989 – The brewery began a focus on pure rice sake using locally grown Asahi rice from Okayama, starting a new direction in quality.
1993 – Celebrated its 100th anniversary.
2007 – Sho Ochi became Brewing Director.
2009 – Contract cultivation of Asahi rice began in Akaoka, Akaiwa City, Okayama.
2013 – 120th anniversary; Sho Ochi became Toji (master brewer) and launched “Taisho no Tsuru RISING 60.”
2019 – Sho Ochi became President and Representative Director.
